Rexburg’s Recreation Department held the 2010 Teton Dam Marathon with the help of local sponsors.

Due to the contributions of many different organizations runners were able to participate.

Along with the Recreation Department there were many other sponsors that contributed to the event. At www.dammarathon.com the list of sponsors is available as well as information for those who wish to become a sponsor or volunteer next year. The Gold level sponsors for the race were Les Schwab Tires, Rainbow Lake Campground, Q102 FM and Personal Best Performance. Les Schwab Tires sponsored the race to both help the race and the community.

“I think that with the economy the way that it is the local businesses need to do all we can to bring business to Rexburg. By sponsoring the Teton marathon we are helping to bring people to Rexburg,” said Mike Bruton, Les Schwab manager.

The Silver level sponsors were Westmark Credit Union, Salt Lake Express, Great Harvest Bread Co. Broulim’s, the Standard Journal, Sticks and Stones, Hammer Nutrition, A1 Rental, Inc. and Kettle Embroidery.

The Bronze level sponsors were Archibald Insurance Center, Rocky Mountain Power and Jamba Juice. Race contributors were Wal-Mart and AmericInn.

Sponsors contributed in many ways. AmericInn gave runners a place to sleep.

“AmericInn is offering discounted weekend rates for participants in the Teton Dam Marathon & Races and RUSH Triathlon,” according to an AmericInn flier. “Normal check‐in time is 3 p.m. The AmericInn staff is willing to accommodate for a later check out than usual. They are willing to extend to a noon check out with no charge.”

By extending its check out time, it allowed racers to enjoy all of the activities at the race without having to be in a hurry.

Jamba Juice was a specific sponsor for the Fun Run. It also provided a smoothie deal to all of the participants.

Many sponsors set up booths at Smith Park, the finish line for the races. This provided something for the family members of the runners and for the community to do while waiting for the racers to cross the finish line.

With the help of the Recreationl Department and the local sponsors, the Teton Dam Marathon was a success.
